Description of the Item

18th century walnut chest of drawers is typical of Paris suburb (Ile de France) work. Chest opens with three large drawers with original locks and bronze hardware added later (19th century). Chest is topped with a Caunes-Minervois Red Marble.

This chest of drawers was in a Normandy house liberated in the first hours of D-Day in 1944. A bomb shell pierced the original walnut top but miraculously did not explode. Rather than repairing the original top, a marble top piece was added.

This chest, rich with history, will highlight any room in your home or office.
