Description of the Item

Early 19th century traditional Normandy wedding armoire. The oak panels are sculpted with beautiful flowers and tobacco leaves on the top rail, bottom rail and the doors.

A medallion with the initial PRG and the year 1821 has been engraved in between the two doors. The armoire is topped with a traditional crown molding.

Normandy wedding armoires were handcrafted and offered by the parent of the bride to the newly wed couple. In this case, the engraved medallion tells us that the couple got married in 1821 and their initials were PRG.
