Description of the Item

This provincial armoire is a traditional Normandy wedding armoire. Armoire is made of sculpted oak and has brass hardware.

The top rail is finely sculpted with a "panier a fleur" (flower basket) and the bottom rail displays a medallion with flowers and leaves. The doors are decorated with more sculpted floral scenes. The armoire is topped with a traditional crown molding.

Normandy wedding armoires were handcrafted and offered by the parent of the bride to the newly wed couple. They are very decorative and useful for convenient storage.
