Description of the Item

This little writing box known as "Ecritoire" of the early 19th century is a piece of jewelry. The box is delicately decorated with marquetery and copper inlay and opens to reveal a leather writing surface, as well as compartments to hold paper, ink and quill.

All hardware is in perfect condition. Box has key and working lock. The exotic woods used for the marquetry include Mahogany, Ash Tree burl and Rose Wood.

This piece is exceptional simply because of its condition and its quality. This box will distinguish any interior and attract the attention of collectors and non-collectors.
