Description of the Item

Robust chair in natural wood with a sculpted scalloped shell cartouche on the front rail and burly cabriolet legs. The tapestry is beautifully preserved with vibrant colors featuring a flower bouquet in needlepoint.

This chair demonstrates the Regence (1715-1723) work. The Regence was the beginning of a new era when furniture started to represent less majesty and more grace. Seating became more comfortable and woodwork more detailed. More high end wood was also being used.

This chair is older than our country and represents the style and refinement of another time.
